Precipitation varies from block to block.

The precipation values shown on the home page are in real time however, its

not a perfect system. The precipitation sensor only records rain. Usually

this sensor is covered during the winter so snow/ice won't damage the unit.

A large maple tree also skews the automated rain reports.

Official precipitation reports are created daily and can be found at two locations.

WEATHER FACTS
WHAT IS FREEZING RAIN?
Freezing rain is just rain that falls onto a surface with a temperature below freezing. This causes it to freeze to surfaces, such as trees, cars, and roads, forming a coating or glaze of ice. Even small accumulations of ice can cause a significant hazard.
